Wemlin, the quick and easy timetable application for public transit in the Zurich an Liechtenstein area.

What it does

With a single tap you get upcoming departure times of your favorite public transit for the selected stop.

Functions and screens

With the "Locate Me" function the application will use the native location service of your device (GPS-based for the iPhone 3G, or WiFi-based for the iPod touch and first-generation iPhones) to display the closest public transit stop. With an additional tap you get either upcoming departure times or the stop's location displayed on a Google map. On the Google map you see the stations location mark and your contious updated actual position to guide you to the station.

The most important screen is the "Departure" screen for a specific stop. It is labeled with the stop's name and lists it's departures within the next 30 minutes. The departure times update automatically once a minute. On this screen you see the line's identifying icon, it's direction and departure time in minutes. A clock icon at the top of the screen allows toggling between a display of waiting time in minutes or absolute departure times. Tap on the line-identifying icon to show only departures for that line and direction. By tapping on the icon again you will see all departures again.

With the "Stations" function you can easily navigate the over 3,300 S-Bahn, tram, bus and boat stops available for the supported networks. Flick or scroll a list with your finger, scroll by letter, or use the search bar at the top of the screen to navigate through the list of stops. The search bar is interactive, so in most cases two or three letters are enough to locate the desired station.

With the "Recents" function your most visited stops are always conveniently available the most recent entry always at the top. The "Recents" list is maintained for you automatically.

After selecting a particular line and direction, a graphical list of stops for the selected line's route is shown in the "Pearlchain" view. The current stop and final stop are visually marked with a red circle. All upcoming stops for that route are shown in black, all passed stops in grey and the just leaving ones in red. "Stations Nearby" indicate stations located close to stops on your route. With a tap on "Stations Nearby" you can view these stations and pursue your journey from there. This screen is automatically updated once per minute. The clock icon at the top of the screen allows toggling between riding time in minutes or planned arrival (wall-clock) time. By selecting one of the upcoming stations, you can check the departure times for a line change.

The given departure times are based entirely on published schedules rather than real-time vehicle data. The world-famous transit punctuality of Switzerland and Liechtenstein makes Wemlin very accurate.

"Maps" lets you pan through the maps of the installed network. So you don't have to search for the map at the station, quite handy if you are in a hurry.

The "setup" tab allows to install and uninstall timetable data of the available networks

Known limitations

Wemlin requires Firmware 3.0 or newer.

Wemlin mission

With Wemlin we aim to provide travelers using public transporation the quickest and most convenient access to upcoming departure times for a selected stop. Our users are mobile, frequent users of public transit and value efficiency.

Wemlin is a departure-focused information system (it is neither a route planner nor a full-featured timetable browser). Wemlin does one thing in a highly usable manner. We think users will appreciate this narrow focus.

If you have a suggestion on how to improve the speed or usability of Wemlin, please share your feedback via the contact link above.

Why does Wemlin use advertising?

Advertising helps Netcetera in two ways. On one hand it helps us to cover the financial effort made to develop Wemlin and on the other hand to show our customers the possibility of in-App advertisment. We made every effort to make sure that the ease of use of Wemlin is not affected by the advertisment.

Why is this page in English?

This is because the software was developed by an international team (with English as a working language). But no worry, you can provide your feedback in English or in a more typical Swiss language, but we will probably answer in English.
