The summer timetable update has further delay so we decided to not provide it at all.
Until 23 August 2010 during morning and evening hours, Wemlin shows too many departure times for the VBZ Lines 6, 32, 33, 46, 72, 69, 80. To avoid delays please arrive a little earlier at the station.
All other lines remain unaffected.
We are currently facing some data inconsistency issues with the vacation timetable update. Please note, that Wemlin may show incorrect data for some tram and bus lines during morning and evening hours. Schedules for S-Bahn, nighttime and regional busses are not affected.
We hope to provide you with an update soon and that you enjoy Zurichs spectacular summer anyway.
People ask us quite often if Wemlin is planned to be available on other mobile operating systems (os) like Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian and such. We would love to make this happen. Unfortunately it is not possible just to adopt Wemlin iPhone to other operating systems. We would have to re-develop Wemlin for each of the operating systems separately. We can only do this if we find a "sponsor" who is covering the development cost.
So if you have contacts to a possible sponsor, don't hesitate to bring us together so we can discuss the topic.
We are proud to announce the new Wemlin version with a potpourri of new features. Beside the timetable data of Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) Wemlin provides additionally the data of Liechtenstein Busanstalt(LBA).
Covering more than one set of timetable data, Wemlin allows to install and uninstall
data sets directly out of the App. This means you can select the data you would like
to carry with Wemlin, get noticed if new timetable data is available and you
can upload it directly to Wemlin.
More than that Wemlin performs faster and needs less space on your iPhone or iPod Touch due to a smart algorithm we engineered to compress the timetable data. Thanks to Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) and Liechtenstein Busanstalt (LBA) Wemlin does now provide network and tariff zone maps. You can pan through these maps and get an easy overview over the network.
Wemlin is available again and includes the 2010 timetable! Please update Wemlin via iTunes and enjoy riding in and around Zürich. If you need Wemlin today (Saturday 2009-12-12), update tomorrow (Sunday 2009-12-13), as this update only contains the new timetable.
The timetable update of Wemlin is ready. The Wemlin for 2010 will only contain departure times as of Sunday, December 13. An update of Wemlin in the next days would drive Wemlin unusable until that Sunday, therefore we removed the update from the App Store and will make it
available again on Saturday, December 12.
We are working on a more convenient solution for timetable updates, which should be available in spring 2010.
Right on time for summer vacations in Zürich, an updated version of Wemlin is available. The current release 1.2.1 contains the vacation time table for many bus and tram lines. Many thanks to VBZ and ZVV for the kind support.
We also improved the compatibility with OS3.0. By the way, it is still a mystery to me, why there is no 'Tested on OS3.0' text in the App Store. Believe me, it works. Of course, we are working further to improve Wemlin...
Enjoy the summer and vacation time!
The station Wollishofen for the tram line 7 and the station Wollishofen for the S-Bahn are quite different things. The current Wemlin version 1.2 has merged these two distinct stations into one. This is a bug and will be fixed with the next release.
In the moment the tram station Wollishofen will not be found by the 'Locate Me' function. We are very sorry about this inconvenience.
Many Wemlin users asked, why we have stations like
'Uster, Bahnhof' and 'Uster, Uster'?
Well, these
stations are different. 'Uster, Bahnhof' is one
of the stations in Uster, which are serviced by
bus. The S-Bahn station is called 'Uster'.
But there is also a technical reason, we have two
different timetables merged into one database. Wemlin
contains the ZVV time table (which contains 'Uster,
Bahnhof') and a subset of the SBB time table (which
contains 'Uster, Uster' for the S-Bahn).
When you visit the time table websites of ZVV
and SBB you will also see the differences between
these stations. In Wemlin, you see both at once, which
makes the difference more prominent.
The solution we choose are the so called 'Nearby
Stations', which are stations in walking distance
(250m) to each other. With this feature it is
quite easy to switch from bus to S-Bahn or vice
versa. And the nice logos give you the necessary
hint, which lines go by, bus, tram, S-Bahn, train,
or ship.
And nobody says, that the current solution will be
the final one. Let us know about your ideas.
Stay tuned for the next releases of Wemlin!
